Man Riding Harley Davidson Killed in Crash with Suspected DUI Driver
Mia Janae Perry, 23, Arrested DUI
DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif. (October 22, 2021) – Jon Sherwood, 55, died Thursday night in a collision with a suspected drunk driver on Twentynine Palms Highway 62 in Desert Hot Springs.
Police arrested Mia Janae Perry, 23, of Rialto, following the deadly crash on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter, according to My News LA.
Jon Sherwood died shortly after the 10 p.m. crash where his bike collided with a car driven by Perry.
Perry was driving her Toyota Solara on Pierson Boulevard. As she neared the intersection, she allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way to Jon Sherwood’s Harley Davidson motorcycle on Highway 62. The motorcyclist crashed into the side of the Toyota. The rider suffered major injuries and died at the scene.
Woman Arrested on Suspicion of DUI, Vehicular Manslaughter
Police arrested Mia Janae Perry and booked her into John Benoit Detention Center in Indio shortly after the deadly crash.
Authorities set the driver’s bail at $50,000.
