Fatal Rollover Car Crash in Barstow Saturday, 11/18BARSTOW (November 18, 2017)- According to the San Bernardino Coroner, a 27-year-old man of Murrieta ID’d as Jonathan Alvarez was killed Saturday evening after being involved in a rollover crash on the I-5 north.
California Highway Patrol officials responded to the crash site which took place near Field Road at precisely 10:59 p.m.

Preliminary investigative efforts indicate that Jonathan Alvarez was the passenger of a Toyota Highlander struck from the rear by an undisclosed vehicle for reasons unknown at this time.
The initial impact caused the driver of the Highlander to lose control and veer over several lanes causing the vehicle to ultimately roll over multiple times before coming to rest.
CHP officials notified paramedics and the San Bernardino County Fire Department who hastily arrived at the scene to provide immediate assistance only to no avail as Alvarez was pronounced dead at the scene upon their arrival.
There were reports that at least one other motorist incurred injuries confirmed to have been the driver of the Toyota Highlander who was not ID’d. The driver was taken to a hospital or medical center in unknown condition.
No other details have been released at this time regarding the vehicle and the driver who caused the crash as the investigation remains ongoing being performed by the CHP-Barstow division.
