JURUPA VALLEY (April 13, 2016)- According to the Press-Enterprise, a deadly fiery head-on crash took place this morning at or near the intersection of Granite Hill Drive and Pyrite Street.
The wreck took place at 6:50 a.m. between a Chevy pickup truck and a Toyota Scion.
Per the article, the driver of the Scion tragically did not survive the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified as 19-year-old Jonathan Medel of Jurupa Valley.
The pickup driver needed to be removed from the vehicle by emergency worker personnel and was hospitalized with injuries which appeared to have been moderate.
A fire was also triggered following the crash and was quickly put out by firefighters.
Authorities are in the process of investigating the incident to determine the specific cause.
