Jonathan Sepulveda, 34, Killed in Balboa Park Scooter Crash on Pershing Drive
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 19, 2021) – Jonathan Sepulveda was killed after a scooter crash on Pershing Drive in Balboa Park.
The Medical Examiner’s Office identified the 34-year-old San Diego man as the victim of the fatal collision which occurred on Saturday night.
The incident began when Jonathan Sepulveda was riding an electric scooter in the bike lane on Pershing Drive in Balboa Park. At the same time, a 2012 Mazda 3 was traveling northeast.
Scooter Rider Hit by Car in Bike Lane
For an unknown reason, the car drove into the bike lane. Its driver, a 17-year-old girl, then struck the scooter rider from behind in the 2800 block of the road.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found the victim lying on the ground. He sustained serious injuries as a result of the wreck.
Jonathan Sepulveda died at the scene of the Balboa Park crash. The San Diego Union-Tribune and NBC San Diego wrote that the accident took place on September 18 shortly before 11 p.m.
