Hit-and-run Driver Flees; Bicyclist Dies in Torrance Crash
TORRANCE, Calif. (Sept. 17, 2018) – Jonathan Valbuena, 32, has been identfified as the bicyclist was struck and killed Monday morning by a hit-and-run vehicle.
Police are seeking the public’s help to solve the crime.
The victim who was riding the bicycle, was hit by the vehicle about 5 a.m. at Hawthorne Boulevard and 227th Street,
The Torrance Police Department responded, but Mr. Valbuena died at the scene, police said. The suspect’s vehicle was described as a tan or light gold 2006-09 Toyota 4-Runner SUV. It was seen on security video from a nearby residence, police said.
Police stated that the suspect’s vehicle will most-likely have front-end damage. The suspect’s vehicle left behind part of its bumper at the scene, police said.
The northbound lanes of Hawthorne Boulevard were closed for an investigation. Witnesses or anyone with information about this crime, may contact the Torrance police traffic office at (310) 618-5557.

It’s unknown at this time who is responsible for this horrible collision. There are many unanswered questions, but police do have evidence that may help them solve this crime. These criminals are often found and held responsible to the victim or their family.
