Jonathan Yip, 23, Killed in Moorpark Crash at Grimes Canyon and Meadowglade

MOORPARK, CA (November 16, 2021) – Jonathan Yip was killed after a car crash at Grimes Canyon Road and Meadowglade Drive in Moorpark.

The Medical Examiner’s Office identified the 23-year-old Moorpark man as one of the deceased parties in the wreck which took place on Monday.

The incident began when Jonathan Yip was riding as a front passenger in a 2020 Toyota sedan going north on Grimes Canyon Road in Moorpark. At the same time, a Peterbilt semi-truck pulling a dump trailer was traveling south.

The sedan went into the southbound side after its driver, 23-year-old John Queen, failed to negotiate a right curve. The Oxnard man then slammed their car head-on into the Peterbilt.

The California Highway Patrol said both vehicles caught fire as a result of the collision. Jonathan Yip and John Queen died at the scene of the crash.

Car Hits Semi-Truck Head-on

The 59-year-old Moorpark man in back right passenger seat of the Toyota sustained serious injuries due to the impact. The driver of the truck, a 61-year-old Los Angeles man, survived with moderate injuries.

Paramedics rushed the patients to the Los Robles Regional Medical Center for treatment. The reports did not disclose their names and condition at this time.

The Ventura County Star and KVTA News wrote that the accident occurred on November 15 shortly before 3 p.m. Meanwhile, CHP believed that speed played a role in the incident.
