Vallejo Man, 70, Killed in Crash on Sonoma Boulevard
VALLEJO, Calif. (Feb. 11, 2019) — Jorge Macaraeg Lindayen, 70, of Vallejo, died Friday night in a two-car collision on Sonoma Boulevard, just north of Lewis Brown Road.
The crash was reported to Vallejo police at about 8:13 p.m. Two vehicles collided in the southbound lanes of Sonoma Boulevard — a white 2000 Saturn SL1 and a blue 1999 Dodge Durango pickup truck.
Police believe that the Saturn was heading northbound on Sonoma Boulevard from Lewis Brown Road when it crossed over the center median and into the path of the southbound pickup truck. The vehicle Dodge Durango crashed into the passenger side of the Saturn.
Paramedics rushed the Saturn driver to a local area hospital, but he later died due to major injuries, police said.
The 41-year-old Vallejo woman who was driving the Dodge suffered minor injuries. The woman stopped after the collision and cooperated with authorities who were investigating the cause of the crash.
Police are piecing together evidence and have not yet ruled out whether or not alcohol was a factor in the collision. They do not believe that speed contributed to the crash at this time.
