Fatal Oxnard Pedestrian Accident on Vineyard Avenue
VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (April 3, 2019) — A 24-year-old Oxnard man, identified as Jorge McCarthy, died Monday night when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle in the El Rio area of Oxnard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash took place about 8:20 p.m. on East Vineyard Avenue, just north of Central Avenue, police said. Police say a driver in a Mini Cooper was heading southbound on Vineyard Avenue when the vehicle struck McCarthy in this darkened stretch of roadway, police said.
The Oxnard man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Ventura County Star.
The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the pedestrian as Jorge McCarthy.
Meanwhile, the driver involved stopped and cooperated with the police investigation. There were no arrests or known citations made by police.
