Deadly, 2-Vehicle Crash Near Mt. San Jacinto College
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. (June 24, 2022) — Jorge Paniagua, 25, of Hemet, died and one person was injured Wednesday in a collision at Sagecrest Drive and North State Street in San Jacinto.
The collision occurred about 8:40 p.m. on June 22nd near the entrance to the campus of Mt. San Jacinto College, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The 25-year-old motorist died and his passenger suffered injuries in the two-vehicle collision, police said.
Jorge Paniagua was driving an Infiniti sedan southbound on State Street “at a high rate of speed,” according to police.
Meanwhile, a northbound Honda Civic made a left turn in front of the oncoming Infiniti at Sagecrest Drive. That’s when the two vehicles collided and the Infiniti went off the roadway into a telephone pole, police said.
The Riverside County Fire Department sent medical crews to the intersection, but sadly Jorge Paniagua died at the scene.
Additionally, paramedics transported the injured passenger to a hospital for treatment.
Furthermore, the driver in the Honda did not report any injuries.
Authorities are investigating the collision to determine fault.
