Jorge Plascencia, 50; and Juan Plascencia, 36, Injured in Taft Car Crash
TAFT (April 19, 2019) – Two were injured, one seriously, after a traffic collision along Gardner Field Road Thursday morning, April 18.
The victims have been identified as 50-year-old Jorge Plascencia and 36-year-old Juan Plascencia. Their cities of residence were not disclosed.
California Highway Patrol said the two men were riding a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado south on Gardner Field Road when they were struck by a 2006 Dodge Caravan.
According to reports by Bakersfield Californian and 23 ABC News, the Dodge was initially headed north when for an unknown reason it crossed over into the opposing lane and collided with the Chevrolet.
Man, 48, Killed in Taft Crash on Gardner Field Road
Jorge Plascencia, the driver of the Silverado, was airlifted to Kern Medical Center to be treated for major injurie. Juan Plascencia sustained minor wounds upon impact.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the 48-year-old Taft man driving the Caravan was also taken to a local hospital where he later died. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
The fatal accident was reported at around 7:25 a.m. near the Taft Correctional Institution, south of Lake Road. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
