Jose Angel Ruan Lopez Killed in Otay Mesa Motorcycle Crash

Motorcyclist, Box Truck Crash on Enrico Fermi Drive

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Oct. 2, 2024) — Jose Angel Ruan Lopez, 20, died in a motorcycle accident involving a box truck early Monday on Enrico Fermi Drive, just north of Otay Mesa Road in San Diego.

The two-vehicle collision occurred at 4:45 a.m. on Sept. 30th in the Otay Mesa area, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The young man was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle northbound on Enrico Fermi Drive when he collided with the back of a stalled box truck in the same lane, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.

CHP officials reported the motorcyclist suffered major injuries and died following the crash.

Meanwhile, tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles from the scene and the truck will be held for evidence, the report said.

Investigators are working to determine who is at fault for the San Diego motorcycle crash.
