Jose Celedon, 41, ID’d as Suspect in Menifee Fatal DUI Crash
MENIFEE, CA (June 2, 2022) – Authorities detained Jose Celedon after a DUI crash that killed a motorcyclist in Menifee.
Police determined that the 41-year-old man was under the influence when the fatal collision happened on Tuesday.
The incident began when Jose Antonio Celedon was driving a sedan south on Cottonwood Canyon Road in Menifee. At the same time, the motorcycle rider was going west on Bundy Canyon Road.
Police said Jose Celedon then started making a left turn onto Bundy Canyon, directly in front of the bike. In the process, his car collided with the motorcyclist in the intersection.
Luis Silva, 32, Killed in Wreck
The victim, 32-year-old Winchester resident Luis Christian Silva, had the right of way. He ended up ejected from his motorcycle as a result of the accident.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the rider dead at the scene. The Press Enterprise wrote that the wreck took place on May 31 at about 5:15 a.m.
Meanwhile, police soon arrested Jose Celedon on suspicion of second-degree murder, felony DUI and DUI resulting in great bodily injury.
They booked him into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta in lieu of $1 million bail. The Menifee DUI crash is still under investigation.
