Jose Escobedo Fatal Rialto Crash West Slover Avenue, Willow Avenue

RIALTO, Calif. (Jan. 24, 2023) –– Jose Escobedo, 26, of Bloomington, died Friday in a Rialto collision with a semi-truck on West Slover Avenue at Willow Avenue.

Also, the deadly crash occurred about 3:03 a.m. on Jan. 20th in the 300 block of West Slover Avenue, according to the Fontana Herald News.

The Rialto Police Department reported Jose Escobedo was driving a grey Nissan Sentra in the No. 2 lane of eastbound Slover Avenue heading towards Willow Avenue. At the same time, Jose Cordero, 31, of Palmdale, was driving a semi-truck pulling two trailers when he exited an adjacent logistics yard and entered northbound Willow Avenue toward the Interstate 10 freeway, the report said.

Jose Cordero reportedly made a left turn onto westbound Slover Avenue in front of the Nissan and Jose Cordero crashed into the back of the truck’s trailer, the report said.

Police responded to the crash scene and located both vehicles blocking the roadway.

Jose Escobedo was trapped in his vehicle and had major injuries from the wreck.

The Rialto Fire Department also responded and performed life-saving measures on the Nissan driver, but sadly he died at the scene.

Meanwhile, Jose Cordero was uninjured after the collision.

Authorities are heading up an investigation into liability for the deadly crash. They do not suspect alcohol was a factor, but physical evidence from the crash could mean “excessive speed” by the driver in the Nissan could be a factor, Rialto police said.
