Fatal Arcata Pedestrian Accident on Valley West Boulevard
ARCATA, Calif. (Oct. 28, 2022) — Jose Luis Miranda-Osorio, 29, was arrested following a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident Wednesday morning on Valley West Boulevard.
The deadly collision occurred just before 6 a.m. on Oct. 26th, according to the an Arcata Police Department news release.
The fatal collision happened in the 5000 block of Valley West Boulevard. Arcata police and fire crews responded and located the victim lying in the roadway. They transported the person to a hospital where they later died.
Jose Luis Miranda-Osorio allegedly struck the victim and fled the scene without stopping to help them. Police were able to identify the man by reviewing video surveillance and speaking with witnesses.
Furthermore, they arrested the suspect on Wednesday, but noted that drugs and or alcohol were not a factor in the crash, the release states.
Finally, investigators continue to work on the case.
