Pedestrian Jose Martinez Hit by Speeding Vehicle on Cedar Street
SANTA ANA, Calif. (Oct. 26, 2018) – Jose Martinez, 68, of Santa Ana, was killed Thursday night during an alleged street racing incident in the 1800 block of Cedar Street.
The crash was reported at 7:36 p.m. last night. The driver who struck the pedestrian also hit five other vehicles.
Paramedics rushed the man to a hospital, but he later died of his injuries there. A news report stated the man was married with three children and operated a food truck.
The driver of the vehicle stopped and remained at the scene where they were questioned by police about what happened. Police do not suspect alcohol or drugs were involved, but there could be criminal charges filed against the driver for street racing if it is confirmed as the cause.
There had been reports of speeding vehicles in the area prior to the crash and a second vehicle appears to have fled the scene.
Those of us at Johnson Attorneys Group offer our condolences to the family of Mr. Martinez as they cope with this tragedy.
