Man, 58, Killed in Fresno Crash on Golden State Boulevard
FRESNO, Calif. (Jan. 20, 2022) — Joe Silva, 58, of Fresno, died in a head-on crash Thursday morning on Golden State Boulevard in Fresno.
The collision happened just before 7 a.m. on Jan. 20th, according to ABC 30 Action News.
A driver in a black pickup truck identified as Joe Silva died in the collision with a silver pickup truck. Prior to the deadly crash, the silver truck reportedly collided with another motorist at Highway 180 and Highway 99, just minutes before the head-on crash.
Police say the silver truck had fled the first collision without stopping to exchange information with the victim.
That’s when a chase ensued as the victim of the first crash drove after the silver truck. Both vehicles headed toward Golden State Boulevard where the silver truck veered into the path of the black truck. The driver inside the black truck suffered major injuries in the collision was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the suspect and their passenger were both transported by ambulances to a local hospital with injuries.
Finally, officials closed down Golden State Boulevard in both directions between Shaw and Ashlan avenues to investigate the crash.
