2 Men, Woman Killed in Richmond Amtrak Train, Car Accident
RICHMOND, Calif. (October 29, 2019) – Jose Torres Jr. 30, Robert Taylor, 58, and Whitney Pearl, 30, all died early Monday morning when their car was struck by an oncoming northbound Amtrak train at an intersection in Richmond.
The three people, all from Richmond, were in a vehicle that was driving across the train tracks at Brookside Drive and Giant Road, according to KTLA 5 News. The long-distance Amtrak train struck the victim’s vehicle about 12:08 a.m. at the railroad crossing.
Upon impact, all three people were killed in the crash localted in the east San Francisco Bay Area. It’s unknown at this time who was driving the vehicle at the time of the collision.
There were no injuries reported aboard the train and police investigating the crash stated that the train’s controls and railroad track signals appeared to be in working condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
