Panorama City Man, 61, Killed in Pedestrian Accident in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Oct. 21, 2022) — Jose Luis De La Torres Vargas, 61, of Panorama City, died in a pedestrian Wednesday morning in southwest Bakersfield.
The crash occurred about 9:38 a.m. on Oct. 19th at District Boulevard and Ashe Road, according to KGET.
A driver traveling northbound on Ashe Road reportedly ran through a red light. Next, the driver collided with another motorist before losing control and hitting the pedestrian standing at the coroner of the intersection.

The pedestrian, identified as Jose De La Torres Vargas, died at the scene.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the driver who allegedly ran the red light to a local hospital, according to Bakersfield Police.
Also, the man is being treated at the hospital for moderate injuries.
Finally, authorities are investigating the crash, but do not suspect alcohol, drugs, or speed were factors contributing to the crash.
