Fatal Traffic Collision Near Clark Street Wednesday
Moreno Valley, CA (March 11, 2022) – Jose Velasco Jr., a 25-year-old man, died following a car accident that occurred March 9 on Box Spring Road.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department News reported Velasco Jr. was driving a 2017 Nissan Sentra traveling in the streets of Moreno Valley. When the man approached the area near Clark Street, Velasco Jr. lost control of the vehicle. Our sources indicated the motorist careened across the westbound lanes of Box Spring Road.
According to the accident dispatch, Velasco Jr. ended up crashing into the curb on the northside of the roadway.
Emergency crews arrived at the site shortly after 8:07 p.m. First responders found the Nissan launched up the embankment; and slammed into a tree.

Medical personnel immediately rendered aid to the driver found in the mangled car. Despite life-saving measures, the man sadly succumbed to his injuries and died. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department identified the deceased as Jose Velasco Jr.
Several factors surrounding the unfortunate event remained unclear. At this time, detectives continue to work to determine whether another vehicle played a role in the fatal crash. Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
