Jose Zarate Killed in Ventura Car Crash on Highway 101

Fiery Multi-Vehicle Collision on SR-101

Ventura, CA (May 16, 2023) – Jose Zarate, a 50-year-old Ventura resident, died following a traffic accident that occurred on State Route Highway 101, the KVTA News reported.

On May 15, Monday, multiple vehicles collided in the northbound side of the highway near San Miguelito. Preliminary investigation revealed horrible crash happened when a 30-year-old Lancaster man driving a 2012 Ford F-550 slammed into the back of 2002 Toyota Tacoma.

The force from the impact started a chain-reaction collision. According to the article published online, the Toyota Tacoma hit a 2018 Tesla Model-3. Subsequently, the Tesla crashed into a 2019 Honda HR-V, that then slammed into a 2007 Honda Accord.

Deadly Car Accident in Ventura

Our sources indicated the catastrophic incident took place at approximately 9:30 a.m. When emergency crews arrived at the location, they found the Toyota Tacoma fully engulfed in flames while the driver remained trapped inside. Firefighters worked extensively to save the victim but he sadly died at the scene. Authorities recently identified the fatal victim as Jose Zarate, of Ventura.

Officials added the drivers of the Ford pickup, Tesla, and Honda HR-V all suffered minor injuries.

After the investigation process, police arrested the 30-year-old Lancaster man driving the Ford pickup for felony gross vehicular manslaughter. Detectives continue to work at this time to determine several unclear factors surrounding the deadly accident that happened on State Route Highway 101 in Ventura.
