Josefa Blandon, 82, Killed in Merced Pedestrian Crash on G Street
MERCED, CA (April 11, 2022) – Josefa Blandon was killed after a pedestrian crash on G Street in the city of Merced.
The coroner’s office identified the 82-year-old Merced woman as the victim of the fatal collision which took place last week on Thursday.
The incident happened when Josefa Blandon was walking in the 1400 block of G Street in Merced. At the same time, an on-duty police officer was driving a marked patrol vehicle in the area.
For an unknown reason, the police car struck her. The Merced Sun Star and ABC 30 News wrote that the accident occurred on April 7 at about 10:01 p.m.
Victim Hit by Police Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found the victim down on the ground. She sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Josefa Blandon soon died at the scene of the pedestrian incident. Meanwhile, police placed the officer who hit the woman on administrative leave.
The department named the officer as Chase Wilson, a five-year veteran. Family members setup a GoFundMe page to help cover the funeral expenses of the victim.
The cause of the Merced pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
