Josefa Carter Killed in Crash on Highway 65, Famoso Road Near Bakersfield
Woman, 67, Killed in Collision in Kern County
KERN COUNTY, Calif. (April 1, 2025) — Josefa Carter, 67, of Bakersfield, died in a crash Saturday night on Porterville Highway 65, just south of Famoso Road in the McFarland area north of Bakersfield.
According to the California Highway Patrol, several vehicles were involved in the traffic accident around 7:30 p.m. on March 29th, 2025. One of the vehicles involved reportedly caught on fire at the intersection. It’s unknown what led up to the collision, however, there are stop signs that only control traffic entering Porterville Highway.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office reported one of the drivers, identified as Josefa Carter, unfortunately died at the scene.
Meanwhile, two other people suffered injuries and were transported a hospital. Their condition and identity was not released.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the Highway 65 crash in Bakersfield.
