Officer Joseph Heightman Hospitalized After Traffic Collision Near Interstate 15 Tuesday
Escondido, CA (April 8, 2021) – A California Highway Patrol officer, Joseph Heightman, suffered injuries following a road accident on Via Rancho Parkway, the NBC San Diego reported.
On April 6, Officer Joseph Heightman was riding a motorcycle heading east on Via Rancho Parkway juest east of Interstate 15. When the motorcyclist approached the area near Lomas Serenas Drive, a Nissan Rogue made an unsafe turn. Our sources indicated the SUV veered directly into the path of Joseph Heightman.
The motorcyclist was unable to avoid, and crashed into the Nissan. Per news article, the force from the impact ejected CHP Officer Joseph Heightman from his motorbike.
Major Injury Auto vs. Motorcycle Accident in Escondido, April 6
Shortly after 12:50 p.m., medical personnel arrived at the site and found Joseph Heightman with major injuries. Because of his condition, an ambulance rushed the victim to Palomar Medical Center for treatment.
Meanwhile, the woman behind the wheel of the Nissan appeared unharmed after the wreck. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police as obliged by the law.
Further investigation on the case is underway.
