CORONA, California (April 27, 2016) — Joseph Lentini, 61, of Wildomar was struck and killed Wednesday morning by a big rig truck on the northbound Interstate 15 Freeway at Weirick Road, a California Highway Patrol report said.
The fatal crash took place about 10:23 a.m. shortly after a man driving a gray Toyota pulled over on the right shoulder, got out of his vehicle and allegedly ran in front of the big rig truck, the CHP report said.
The man was laying in the No. 3 lane where he died of his injuries. The Riverside County Sheriff Coroner responded to the scene. A SigAlert was issued due to heavy traffic.
Police are investigating the fatal pedestrian accident to verify what the truck driver told them and determine liability for his death.
