Joseph Lewis, 50, Seriously Injured in Stevinson Crash at 3rd Avenue and Edminster Road
MERCED COUNTY, CA (October 11, 2021) – Joseph Lewis was seriously injured after a car crash at 3rd Avenue and Edminster Road in Stevinson.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 50-year-old Turlock man as the victim of the collision which occurred on Sunday.
The incident began when Joseph Lewis was driving a 2002 Dodge Caravan east on 3rd Avenue, approaching Edminster Road, in Stevinson.
At the same time, a 2000 GMC Sierra was going south on Edminster. The GMC then ran a posted stop sign and failed to yield to traffic at the intersection.
DUI Driver Runs Stop Sign, Hits Victim
In the process, the Sierra slammed into the Dodge in the intersection. The Merced Sun Star wrote that the GMC rolled over upon impact.
Joseph Lewis sustained major injuries as a result of the crash. An air ambulance took him to the Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment.
CHP said the accident took place on October 10 at about 1:45 p.m. Meanwhile, the male driver of the Sierra ended up unharmed following the wreck.
Officers determined that he was under the influence when he struck the Caravan. They soon arrested him on suspicion of felony DUI.
The Stevinson DUI crash is still under investigation.
