Deadly 2-Vehicle Collision on Avenue H
LANCASTER, Calif. (August 14, 2023) – Joseph Lopez, 29, of Lancaster, died in a motorcycle accident with a pickup truck late Friday at Avenue H and 30th Street West in Lancaster.
The fiery, high-speed collision between a Toyota Tundra and the motorcyclist happened around 11:37 p.m. on August 11th, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Lancaster station.
The Los Angeles County Sheriffs’ Department’s Lancaster Station is heading up the investigation.
Police responded to the intersection where they learned a woman driving the pickup truck was traveling westbound on Avenue H and the motorcyclist was heading eastbound on Avenue H.
The woman reportedly turned left into the path of the oncoming bike as she attempted to enter 30th Street West. The motorcyclist collided with the pickup truck and the rider was ejected from the bike. Meanwhile, the motorcycle burst into flames following the violent crash.
Paramedics pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner identified the man who died on its website. Investigators are piecing together what happened, but early indications are that speed could have been a factor in the collision.
Also, witnesses to the collision are asked to contact traffic investigators at Lancaster Sheriff Station at 661-948-8466.
Finally, police will eventually determine fault for the Lancaster motorcycle accident on Avenue H.
