Joseph Silvestri and Andrea Sanchez Suarez Victim in Deadly Crash
DATE OF COLLISION: Saturday, September 22nd
September 28, 2018- According to the California Highway Patrol and the Fresno Bee, a man and a woman have been identified as the victims fatally injured in a multi-vehicle collision last weekend on I-5 near Derrick Avenue.
The crash occurred at 12:27 a.m. precisely involving what was described as a Toyota pickup truck, a Mitsubishi Mirage, and a White Chevy Tahoe.
Authorities have reported that a vehicle which has not been confirmed had been traveling in an unknown direction on I-5 before colliding with the other two cars.
The aftermath left one of the vehicles overturned and the other two with significant damage as well.
Two victims identified as Joseph Silvestri, 24, of Arleta, and Andrea Sanchez Suarez, 25, of Los Angeles, were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. It remains unclear at this time which vehicles they were occupants of.
Several Other Motorists Hurt and Hospitalized
Meanwhile, a number of other motorists sustained injuries including an individual who endured a broken leg and was rushed to a hospital by ambulance.
At least three others were also hurt and transported via ambulance to local area medical centers.
Following the accident, southbound lanes of I-5 were shut down for a long duration of time while investigators perused the scene.
CHP officials do not believe alcohol to have been a contributing factor but do have reason to believe that one motorist may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
No further details have been provided as the investigation is ongoing.
The staff members of Johnson Attorneys Group thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their family and friends during such difficult times.
Wrongful Death Attorney
A forensic examination of all vehicles involved, as well as photos that were taken of the scene, will help investigators determine which party ultimately caused the accident. Authorities will thoroughly look into how fast each driver was going, which driver had the right-of-way, whether or not alcohol or drugs were involved, and whether or not there were any mechanical issues with either vehicle. The investigation will also consist of looking at measurements of evidence left by each vehicle such as point of impact, final resting positions of each vehicle, skid marks, and gouge marks.
In such cases where negligence or wrongdoing may have been a factor, the family members of Joseph Silvestri and Andrea Sanchez Suarez, as well as the other injured motorists involved may have the right to pursue wrongful death and personal injury lawsuits against the liable motorist pending the results of the investigation. Families of wrongful death victims and injured motorists may seek recompense for damages including funeral costs, medical expenses and hospital bills, loss of companionship, and pain and suffering.
