El Cajon Man, 47, Run Over in Parking Garage in Downtown
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (August 16, 2023) — Joseph Benjamin Taylor, 47, of El Cajon, died Saturday night when a car ran over the pedestrian in an underground parking garage in the East Village area of downtown San Diego.
Police reportedly the fatal pedestrian accident around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 12th, according to the Times of San Diego.
The man was reportedly walking on the east sidewalk in the 1000 block of 11th Avenue. The victim reportedly stumbled and fell down the driveway into the garage. It’s unknown if he tripped on an uneven sidewalk or hazard.
Meanwhile, a 38-year-old man driving a 1999 Toyota Camry turned right into the underground garage and failed to see the pedestrian. Next, the motorist ran over the victim on the driveway and he suffered major injuries. Paramedics rushed the injured man to a hospital where he later died. Joseph Benjamin Taylor was later identified by the San Diego Medical Examiner.
