Pregnant Woman, 34, Killed in Collision is Identified
SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. (May 16, 2024) – Driver Joshua Gay, 39, of Cottonwood, was injured Monday in a head-on crash that left a pregnant woman dead on Bowman Road in Cottonwood.
The other driver, Ashley Rose Slavens, 34, of Anderson, who was nine months pregnant, died in the crash, according to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 4:40 a.m. on Monday, May 13th near Adams Road, according to ABC 7 News.
The 34-year-old Anderson woman was reportedly driving westbound in a 2010 Chevy Equinox. She reportedly crossed the double-yellow lines into the path of an eastbound 2018 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Joshua Gay, the report said.
The 39-year-old Cottonwood man suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Redding, police said.
The Anderson woman was severely injured and rushed to Mercy Medical, but she and her unborn child were pronounced dead.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the crash on Bowman Road in Cottonwood.
