Man Crossing Street on Scooter Killed; Two Suspects Arrested

CLOVIS, Calif. (Oct. 19, 2023) — Joshua Hatfield, 23, died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident early Wednesday at Willow Avenue and Shaw Avenue in Clovis.

Police later arrested two suspects who they believe were involved in the 12:30 a.m. collision on Wednesday, Oct. 18th, according to the Clovis Police Department.

Tracy Slocum, 35, and Latray Magano, 35, were both arrested in connection to the hit-and-run, police said.

One of the suspects was allegedly driving an SUV northbound on Willow Avenue and entered the intersection at Shaw Avenue on a green light. However, the vehicle struck Joshua Hatfield as he was crossing the street with a scooter.

Police attempted to pull over the SUV, but apparently someone else got in the driver’s seat and fled.

Both of the people who drove the SUV were arrested, but Tracy Slocum was the driver who struck the victim and was booked into the Fresno County Jail on felony hit-and-run charges. The second driver faces separate charges.
