MEAD VALLEY, Calif. (May 30, 2018) — Josue Leyvas Gallegos, 30, of Perris, was arrested at a DMV in Kent, Washington after fleeing the scene of the street race that killed two brothers in Mead Valley, California.
He is the second suspect believed to be involved in the Inland Empire crash two weeks ago on Oakwood Road. He was attempting to register a vehicle when he was identified as the suspect and is currently being held in custody in Washington state. He is awaiting extradition on two counts of vehicular manslaughter.
Police already arrested Ricardo Zuniga after the collision. He was hospitalized with injuries and faces two counts of murder for his part in the crash.
California Accident Investigation
At this time, it is clear that both Ricardo Zuniga and Josue Gallegos will be held responsible for their roles in this fatal collision. Police will bring criminal charges against them both and the family may also pursue a wrongful death action against them.
We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family of the two boys whose lives were taken in this tragedy.
Indeed, a fatal collision involving children is heartbreaking. There is really no way to make up for such a loss in the legal system. Hopefully there will be some justice for the family in court as these two are held responsible.
