Teenager Killed in Fremont Crash on I-880 Freeway
FREMONT, California (August 29, 2019) – Jovani Maldonaldo Garcia, 15, of Oakland, was killed Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash on the Interstate 880 Freeway in Fremont, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.
The crash took place about 6:36 p.m. in the northbound lanes between Mowry Avenue and Stevenson Boulevard.
The California Highway Patrol stated that a Ford Ranger pickup truck was struck from behind by a Tesla sedan. Upon impact, a passenger in the Ranger was ejected from the vehicle.
Garcia was a passenger in one of the vehicles and suffered major injuries. He was transported to Stanford Hospital where he later died.
Two other people were transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley.
