Man, 71, Killed in East Palo Alto Pedestrian Accident
EAST PALO ALTO, Calif. (April 27, 2022) – Juan Barrera Gomez, 71, of Menlo Park, died Monday morning in a pedestrian accident at East Bayshore Road at Oakwood Drive in East Palo Alto, California.
The collision occurred about 5:09 a.m. on Monday, April 25th, according to the East Bay Times.
A driver hit the man as he pushed a shopping cart in the southbound lane of East Bayshore Road. Both the pedestrian and motorist were traveling in the same direction. Authorities say the pedestrian may have been difficult to see as he wore all dark clothing.
Juan Barrera Gomez suffered major injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office identified him on Tuesday as Juan Barrera Gomez.
Meanwhile, the driver stopped and remained at the scene. Investigators are working on the case and will determine fault for the deadly East Palo Alto crash.
