Diaz, Gutierrez and Romero Killed in Car Accident on Highway 98
CALEXICO (December 29, 2018) – Three men were killed after a traffic collision along Highway 98 on Thursday morning, according to Imperial Valley Press.
Coroner’s office identified the deceased 41-year-old Juan Diaz, 33-year-old Guillermo Gutierrez and 59-year-old Gildardo Romero. Diaz was from El Centro while Gutierrez and Romero were Calexico residents.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said Romero was driving a Nissan Sentra east on Highway 98 with Diaz and Gutierrez as his passengers.

Their car was exiting the long sweeping curve on the highway when for an unknown reason it drifted into the westbound lane directly into the path of a Bluebird Farm Bus that was headed west at the time.
The Nissan ultimately collided with the bus. The accident took place on December 27 at approximately 5 a.m., east of Holdridge Street.
CHP affirmed that all three occupants of the Sentra died as a result of the crash. Romero and Diaz, who was sitting in the front seat, were believed to have been wearing their seat belts when the wreck occurred.
Meanwhile, the bus operator was hospitalized with minor injuries. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
