1 Killed in San Marcos Crash on S. Santa Fe Avenue
SAN MARCOS, Calif. (Jan. 11, 2022) – Juan Jose Garcia, 56, of San Jose, died in a car accident Sunday on South Santa Fe Avenue in San Marcos.
The deadly crash happened about 4:10 p.m. on Jan. 9th near Smilax Road, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The San Jose man was driving a minivan that collided head-on with another motorist due to unknown circumstances, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner. Witnesses called 911 to report the crash to the San Diego Sheriff’s Office.
Juan Garcia was allegedly unrestrained and suffered major injuries in the crash.
Paramedics transported him to Palomar Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
Meanwhile, sheriff’s deputies did not mention if anyone else suffered injuries in the collision.
Police closed down a stretch of Santa Fe Avenue following the wreck to conduct an investigation.
Liability for the collision is unknown at this time as the San Marcos crash investigation is ongoing.
