Juan Garcia, 37, Victim in Indio Parking Lot Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 111
INDIO, CA (February 11, 2022) – A hit-and-run crash in an Indio parking lot at Rubidoux Street and Highway 111 killed Juan Garcia.
The KESQ News identified the 37-year-old Indio man as the victim of the collision which took place on Sunday afternoon.
The incident happened when a car struck Juan Jose Garcia in the parking lot near the Little Caesar’s Pizza and the Arco AM/PM gas station in Indio.
The parking lot is located at the corner of Rubidoux Street and Highway 111. The Desert Sun wrote that the accident occurred on February 6 at around 4 p.m.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and then found him lying in the parking lot. He sustained severe injuries as a result of the collision.
Priscilla Salcedo, 34, Arrested
Medical personnel rushed the pedestrian to the Desert Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced brain dead on Monday.
Family members set up a GoFundMe page to help cover his medical and funeral bills. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver of the car did not stop to help the man and fled the area.
Officers soon located and arrested the 34-year-old Indio woman. They booked Priscilla Vicuna Salcedo into the John Benoit Detention Center felony hit-and-run resulting in injury or death and inflicting bodily harm.
The fatal Indio hit-and-run crash that left Juan Garcia brain dead is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the police at (760) 391-4051 or the Crime Stoppers (760) 341-STOP.
