Juan Hernandez, 20, Fatal Crash 605 Freeway in Industry
Juan Hernandez Dead, 1 Major Injuries, 3 Minor to Moderate
INDUSTRY, California (August 14, 2017) — Juan Hernandez, 20, of Pomona was killed and four others were injured early Sunday morning in a multi-vehicle collision on the 605 Freeway, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner and the California Highway Patrol.
Hernandez was the only pedestrian involved, the others were occupants of two of six vehicles that were involved. He was struck by at least one of them near the Rose Hills on ramp. The CHP report stated he was pronounced dead at 2:06 a.m. at the scene.
According to the CHP dispatch report, there was a disabled vehicle in the HOV lane about 1:58 a.m. The report did not say whether that vehicle had struck the center divider or was just stopped in the lane.
605 Freeway Crash Near Rose Hills
It is believed that the other vehicles involved struck the disabled car in a chain-reaction crash, but details are under investigation. The vehicles involved included a 2014 Chevrolet Suburban. Other vehicles involved were a 1970 Datsun 240Z. The 21-year-old driver of that vehicle was taken to Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. His 19-year-old female passenger was treated for moderate injuries.
The 65-year-old man who was driving a 1998 Toyota Camry and his 59-year-old female passenger, suffered moderate to major injuries respectively. The pair were transported to Beverly Hospital in Montebello.
