Tow Truck Operator Juan Morga, 48, Killed by Drunk Driver in Stockton
STOCKTON (December 28, 2018) – A tow truck driver killed after an alleged DUI crash along the 5 Freeway early Tuesday has been identified as Juan Morga, according to the Record Net.
San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said the 48-year-old owner of Bob’s Towing in Stockton died after the tragic accident on December 25 at about 2 a.m., north of Matthews Road.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said the Morga was loading a vehicle onto his truck on the right-hand shoulder of the northbound 5 Freeway when he was hit by a 2001 GMC.
Morga succumbed to his injuries and was pronounce dead at the scene.
Suspect Kylle Thomasson, 25, Arrested For DUI
The driver of the GMC, 25-year-old Kylle Thomasson, initially lost control of his car and struck the victim. The vehicle rolled back onto traffic and ended up colliding with two other cars on the freeway.
Thomasson, who was believed to have been under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and a drug at the time, was reportedly medically cleared and arrested following the wreck.
He is reportedly charged with felony gross vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence causing an injury, as well as other enhancements. The Stockton man is being held at the San Joaquin County Jail with a bail set at $1.1.
