Pedestrian Killed on Artesia Freeway on New Year’s Day
COMPTON, Calif. (Jan. 2, 2020) – Juan Munoz Rangel, 53, of South Gate, died on New Year’s Day in a pedestrian accident on the Interstate 91 Freeway, also known as Artesia Freeway.
The man was found lying in the No. 3 and 4 lanes of the 91 freeway near Wilmington Avenue about 5:30 a.m., according to KCAL News. Witnesses told authorities that the victim had been walking northbound across the westbound lanes of the Artesia (91) Freeway. A driver in a 2016 Honda traveling at 60 mph or more struck him, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Juan Munoz Rangel was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:47 a.m.
