RIVERSIDE (October 30, 2017)- According to the Press-Enterprise, Juan Rios, 72, of Moreno Valley, has been ID’d as the victim fatally injured following a deadly head-on crash Saturday morning on Alessandro Boulevard.
The incident occurred at around 4:20 a.m. between two vehicles which included a 2009 Kia Sorrento and a 2012 Nissan van just east of Gem Lane.
Riverside PD was the agency notified of the collision which was triggered by the 26-year-old driver of the Kia who has not been ID’d by name when he crossed into westbound from eastbound lanes on Alessandro directly into the path of the van driven by Juan Rios.
The impact caused fatal injuries to Rios who was determined to have died likely on impact while his 66-year-old passenger, of Moreno Valley, was significantly injured and rushed to an emergency room for immediate treatment.

Riverside Wrongful Death and Personal Injury Lawyer
Based on this news report, it appears that the 26-year-old driver of the Kia will ultimately be held responsible for the death of the deceased victim, Juan Rios, and the injuries incurred to both Rios’s 66-year-old passenger and his own 22-year-old passenger. There are still several unanswered questions here. Was the driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs? Did excessive speed or distracted driving play a role? Was the driver negligent in any other way? We trust officials are looking into these and other factors in order to determine precisely what occurred here and why.
In such cases where negligence or wrongdoing may have been a factor, the immediate family of Juan Rios as well as both injured parties have the right to a wrongful death and personal injury lawsuit respectively. Victims will be able to pursue a claim against the at-fault driver seeking compensation for damages including medical expenses and hospital bills, funeral costs, lost future income due to work absence, pain and suffering, and loss of love and companionship.
