Juan Sanchez DUI Hit-and-Run Crash Chowchilla Orange Avenue 5th Street

Juan Sanchez, 45, Killed in Chowchilla Hit-and-Run Near Orange Avenue and 5th Street

CHOWCHILLA, CA (May 6, 2021) – A DUI hit-and-run crash killed Juan Sanchez near Orange Avenue and 5th Street in Chowchilla.

Family members identified the 45-year-old Chowchilla man with a disability as the victim of the fatal collision which occurred late last month.

The incident happened on April 23 when Juan Sanchez was riding a bicycle near Orange Avenue and 5th Street in Chowchilla. Police said Juan Manuel Ventura then struck the bicyclist with his car.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found Juan Sanchez left lying unresponsive on the ground as a result of the crash. They pronounced him dead at the scene.

Juan Sanchez, 26, Arrested For Homicide

ABC 30 News and Merced Sun Star wrote that the collision occurred at around 5 pm. Meanwhile, Juan Ventura fled the area after hitting the cyclist.

Police located him and he told them that he intentionally wanted to kill someone at the time. They also determined that the suspect was under the influence of drugs and alcohol when he hit Sanchez.

Authorities soon arrested and booked the 26-year-old Madera man into the Madera County jail for homicide. The Chowchilla DUI hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
