Juan Sosa, Alfredo Sanchez and Maria Armas Injured in Bakersfield Accident on Highway 99
BAKERSFIELD (October 4, 2018) – Ten people were injured after a traffic collision caused by a pedestrian on Highway 99 Thursday morning, according to 23 ABC News and The Bakersfield Californian.
Three of the injured victims have been identified as 37-year-old Juan Sosa, 35-year Alfredo Sanchez and 43-year-old Maria Isabel Armas. All are from Bakersfield.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said a female pedestrian was walking north on Highway 99 when at the same time 29-year-old Oscar Diaz was driving a 2018 Dodge Ram in the second lane of the highway.

For an unknown reason, the woman walked into the path of the pickup. The Bakersfield man then swerved, and caused a chain reaction crash involving three other vehicles.
Sosa was traveling in a 1994 Toyota Tundra behind Diaz in the first lane. Sanchez was driving a 2007 Honda Fit directly behind Diaz while Armas operating a 2004 Ford Focus behind Sosa.
A total of ten people were hurt, including the pedestrian who suffered major injuries in the incident. Sosa, Sanchez, Armas and Diaz were also treated for their injuries.
The names and condition at this time of the other patients were not released. Meanwhile, the collision which occurred at around 6 a.m., just north of Merle Haggard Drive, is still under investigation.

In this case, officials will conduct a forensic examination of the four vehicles as part of the investigation. Authorities will thoroughly look into the speed of each driver, whether or not alcohol or drugs played a role, and whether or not any of the motorist was distracted or reckless at the time.
