Juan Carlos Reynoso Velazquez, 29, Killed in Highway 101 Crash Near Ellis Street
MOUNTAIN VIEW (November 27, 2017) – A man was killed in a traffic accident on Highway 101 Sunday morning, November 26, according to Mercury News.
California Highway Patrol identified the victim as 29-year-old Juan Carlos Reynoso Velazquez, of Sunnyvale.
As per the article, CHP said 51-year-old San Jose resident Brian Maskell was driving a white 2014 Honda south on Highway 101 approaching the Ellis Street off-ramp when he changed lanes to exit at Ellis.
Maskell then crossed in front of the black 1995 Honda driven by Velazquez in the slow lane. The victim veered in an attempt to avoid the collision but lost control of his Honda.
He hit a fence along the highway and his car ultimately overturned. The crash occurred at 8:05 a.m.
CHP affirmed that Velazquez was transported to Stanford Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, it was not immediately known whether Maskell was injured as a result of the wreck. The southbound Ellis Street off-ramp was forced to shut down for about 1½ hours as the authorities conducted their investigation.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Officer Erick Parra at 650-369-6261.
We offer our prayers and most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Juan Velazquez during such a difficult time.
