MODESTO, California — 33-year-old Juana Ramirez was thrown from a car, and was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 99 early Saturday morning.
According to an article by Modbee, Juana was a passenger in a northbound 1995 Honda Civic driven by 31-year-old Abel Ramirez. At about 1:45 a.m., the Honda went off road and drove into the east shoulder where it hit a tree, overturned, and came to rest on its wheels.
The collision ejected Juana who landed in the slow lane of the highway near Kansas Avenue, as per Modbee.
Officials said Abel got out of the Honda and while he was trying to drag Juana out of the road, both were hit by a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 38-year-old Berton Ferreira, of Livermore.
Juana suffered major injuries from the crash and was taken to Doctors Medical Center for treatment.
Meanwhile, investigation revealed Abel and Ferreira were driving under the influence when the accident occurred. Both were arrested shortly.
