
Woman Dies in Hit-and-Run Collision at Hammond and Mariposa Avenue
Fresno, CA (May 1, 2023) – Juanita Garcia, a 56-year-old Fresno resident, suffered fatal injuries following a pedestrian accident that occurred in the area of Hammond and Mariposa Avenue.
The Fresno Bee News reported a vehicle struck an individual walking in the road in central Fresno Friday afternoon, April 28. Our sources indicated the horrible crash took place shortly before 1 p.m. at the crossing of Hammond and Mariposa.
Deadly Pedestrian Accident in Fresno
When emergency crews arrived at the location, they found a woman lying on the ground. Responding paramedics performed life-saving efforts to the victim but she sadly succumbed to her injuries and passed away. The coroner on Monday identified the fatal victim as Juanita Garcia.
According to the article published online, a witnesses saw the collision and followed the suspect vehicle to the Rite Aid parking lot at Blackstone and Olive avenues. Police responded to the location and found the suspect, Federico Ramirez Garcia. The man was arrested and booked into Fresno County jail in relation with the catastrophic incident.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
