2-Vehicle Fatal Crash Cedar Way and Marine Ave
MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. (Oct. 30, 2018) –Judith Jean Maloney, 85, of Hawthorne, was identified as the woman who was killed Monday afternoon in a car crash.
She was riding in a vehicle that allegedly ran a red traffic signal and crashed into the pickup at Cedar Way and Marine Avenue.
The collision was reported about 12:15 p.m. in Manhattan Beach. The woman was riding as a passenger in a burgundy Honda Accord driven by her husband. They were traveling south on Cedar Way from the Manhattan Village Mall. The Honda didn’t stop at the red traffic light and crashed into a Ford F-150 pickup truck going east on Marine Avenue and turning right onto Cedar Way.
The elderly woman suffered major injuries and was taken to a hospital where she later died. Her husband suffered moderate injuries and the driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.
The Manhattan Beach police department is heading up the investigation.
Cedar Way Crash Investigation
Police are reviewing the evidence and any witness statements to determine fault. The investigation will consist of looking at measurements of evidence left by the vehicles such as point of impact, final resting positions of the vehicles, skid marks, and gouge marks.
