3 Injured After Car Crash on Highway 140 Saturday
MERCED, Ca (June 9, 2019) – Multiple people sustained injuries following a car accident on Highway 140 Saturday afternoon, according to the Merced Sun-Star.
Preliminary investigation revealed 20-year-old Judith Sandoval, of La Selva Beach, was behind the wheel of a Toyota 2008 RAV4. While heading west on SR-140, Sandoval made a left turn into private driveway. The change of course placed Sandoval into the path of a 2005 Chevy Astro van traveling east on the highway.
The two vehicles eventually collided near Quinley Avenue.

Shortly after 12:35 p.m., medical personnel arrived at the location. Our sources indicated a helicopter airlifted Sandoval to a hospital in Modesto with moderate injuries.
Authorities added 53-year-old Beatriz Leon, of Merced, was also flown to a hospital in Modesto for treatment. Leon was a passenger in the Chevy van. Lastly, the Astro driver, 38-year-old Maria Leon, reportedly suffered minor injuries and received treatment at Merced Medical Center.
At this time, investigators handling the case continue to work to determine precisely how and why the crash occurred.
