Julia Sanchez, 21, Hurt in Collision Near Market and 13th Street Monday
San Diego, CA (July 7, 2021) – Julia Sanchez, a 21-year-old woman, suffered injuries following a traffic accident in the area of Market and 13th Street on July 5, Monday.
The FOX5 San Diego reported, Julia Sanchez was riding an electric Bird scooter traveling in the streets of San Diego. When the woman drove through the intersection of Market and 13th, she collided with a white Ford Explorer.
Our sources confirmed the crash resulted in serious injuries to the scooter rider. Shortly after 4 a.m., emergency crews arrived at the location and rendered aid to Julia Sanchez. According to the article published online, paramedics rushed the woman to the hospital for treatment of a 10-inch laceration, and other wounds. Officials added the patient likely will require two future knee surgeries.
Authorities said the other person riding the scooter was also taken to the hospital after the incident. The unidentified victim sustained multiple fractures, and continues to recover at a hospital.
Hit-and-Run Driver Arrested After San Diego Scooter Accident, July 5
Per local news source, the driver of the SUV fled the scene following the collision. Later that day, police located and apprehended the hit-and-run suspect. The name of the SUV driver remained undisclosed pending confirmation.
Further investigation on the major scooter accident is underway.
