Julie Phillips, 47, Hit by Car in Dixon Crash on Interstate 80
DIXON, CA (April 12, 2021) – A DUI crash killed Julie Phillips along the Interstate Highway 80 in Dixon on Sunday morning.
The Solano County Coroner’s Office identified the 47-year-old Dixon woman as the victim of the fatal accident which occurred on April 11.
The incident began when a black Mazda CX5 was traveling at a high rate of speed west on the Interstate 80, west of Dixon Avenue. The Mazda then struck the rear of a silver Hyundai Elantra.
Several people, including Julie Phillips, stopped at the crash site and assisted the involved parties. A red Toyota Tacoma approached and slammed into a silver Toyota Prius.
3 Injured in Multi-Car Collision Near Dixon Avenue
The impact forced the Tacoma into the Mazda and its driver, standing outside his car. The California Highway Patrol said the Tacoma continued forward and ultimately hit Phillips.
According to reports by The Reporter and KRON 4 News, the wreck happened at about 2:38 a.m. Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and pronounced Julie Phillips dead at the scene.
Medical personnel rushed the operators of the Mazda and the Prius to a hospital with major and minor injuries. They also took the male motorist in the Tacoma for treatment of major injuries.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that the man driving the Tacoma was under the influence of alcohol. Authorities soon arrested him on suspicion of felony DUI.
