Woman, 18, Killed in Crash on Ventura Freeway
WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. (April 8, 2024) – Julie Welchance, 18, of El Cajon, died in a pedestrian accident Sunday morning on the Ventura (101) Freeway in Woodland Hills.
The crash occurred at around 5:15 a.m. on the eastbound 101 Freeway at Mulholland Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities discovered the young woman’s body lying in a middle lane, but it appears the driver involved may have fled the scene, the CHP said. The Los Angeles County Sheriff-Coroner identified the victim as Julie Welchance.
Police issued a Sigalert at 5:35 a.m. and closed down the eastbound lanes of the freeway until 10:50 a.m. when the freeway reopened.
